According to Gibson, when applying for the PayPal Credit Card (and other options) on PayPal's website, you are taken to the DoubleClick website and then returned back to PayPal.
Gibson says that this establishes a first-party relationship with DoubleClick and there seems to good reason to do this.
What seems particularly galling is that it is not just advertising links that use DoubleClick. Even reading PayPal's Policy Update bounces across to DoubleClick and then back again.
MyCreditCardGuide.co.uk Comment - When we checked PayPal's UK website, the Policy Update was not using DoubleClick and we could only find advertisements being routed in this way. This is a poor show by PayPal and certainly indicates, as Gibson says, that more competition is needed in the on-line payment arena.
